MD Suddenly, peacefully, on Monday 23, September 2002 at Lac Gagnon, PQ in the company of his wife of 45 years, Geraldine. Born 12 October 1927 in Ottawa, predeceased by his parents, Jack and Daisy, survived by his brothers Kevin of Albany, NY and William of Smiths Falls; his four sons, Daniel, James, Robert and Terence; their partners, Deborah, Susan, Shelley, granddaughters Leah and Robyn and step-grandchildren Adam, Ashley, Brooke and Chad. He practised medicine in Ottawa from 1953 to 1998, after completing his medical degree at McGill University (MDCM 1952). Dr. Cross was on staff with the Ottawa Civic Hospital from 1954-69, the Grace Hospital 1954-67, the Ottawa Riverside Hospital 1967-98 and CHEO from 1974-93. Amongst his many professional successes at the Riverside Hospital, Dr. Cross was Chief, Department of General Practice 1974-82. Member of the Medical Advisory Committees from 1974-96, President of the Medical Staff from 1983-96, Chairman of the Credentials Committee 1983-96 and Member of the Board of trustees from 1983-96. He was President of the Ottawa Academy of Medicine 1992-93. Dr. Cross was a lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine, Ottawa University Department of Family Practice from 1984-98. In addition to his professional career, Pat was an accomplished carpenter and electrician and enjoyed photography, fishing, sailing, skiing and showing dogs. Friends may visit at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road at Albion Road, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, after 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 12:15 p.m. in Holy Cross Church, 685 Walkley Road.
