Worshipful Master- St. John's Lodge #63 A.F. & A.M., Carleton Place, Ontario Past Chairperson of Lanark County CNIB Very suddenly in hospital at Carleton Place, Ontario on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at the age of 47 years. Best friend, lifelong love and devoted husband of Karen Blackburn. Cherished and always proud dad of Alexandra. Loving son of Mildred Ann Gracie (nee Mickey) of Victoria, B.C. and the late Robertson Steedman Gracie (formerly of Carleton Place). Dear brother of Allison Gracie and loved grandson-in-law of Sophie Blackburn. Rob was respected and loved by his in-laws, Doris Blackburn and Bill Doherty and Ken Blackburn and Jean Galloway. He was greatly loved and will be missed by his brothers-in-law David Blackburn (Micheila) and Kent Blackburn (Jennie). Extra special uncle to Kerrington, Kennedy, Kael and Jacob Blackburn. Very special Godfather of Grace Eleah Fraser of Mayne Island, B.C. Rob leaves behind many, many dear friends. Friends may call at the ALAN R. BARKER FUNERAL HOME 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service to be held at St. James Anglican Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Reverend David Mullin officiating. Cremation to follow. In memory of Rob, donations may be made to the CNIB or the Carleton Place Library. A trust for Alexandra's education has also been established at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Carleton Place. St. John's Lodge #63 will hold a Masonic service at the funeral home on Friday at 7 p.m. There will be an enormous empty space left here where Rob used to be. His brave and always positive attitude to life and all its challenges should be a lesson for everyone. His intelligence, wit and sense of humour is a lasting legacy for all who knew and loved him. Rob's contribution to his family and community was only limited by his health. His only fear was not being there to share in Alexandra's life. As a tribute to Rob's spirit and life please hug someone and tell them you love them. Rob you are always and forever with us. The Ottawa Citizen, 26-09-2002
