Born March 21, 1919, in Vancouver, B.C. Died peacefully in Victoria on September 26, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by his beloved first wife Sheila Josephine Nesbitt. Survived by his second wife Jean and by his children Lance (Valerie), Tara and Susan (Jim McDaniel), granddaughter Astrid (Bjorn Surborg), grandson Erik (Heidi) and great-granddaughter Kaja Surborg; also by his brother Ron (Hazel) and sister Anne (Leo Milette). Orme spent 33 years with the Department of External Affairs and served abroad as Ambassador to Colombia and Equador, Commissioner in Saigon, High Commissioner to Guyana and Surinam and Ambassador to Peru and Bolivia.
