After a lengthy battle with cancer, fought bravely, Wladyslaw Otorowski passed away in the early morning of Sunday, September 29, 2002. Wladyslaw was born in Czastary, Poland on January 13, 1916. After serving with the British Armed Forces during WWII, Wladyslaw emigrated to Canada where he settled in the Ottawa region. He was an early supporter and advocate for the development of resources to serve the cultural and spiritual needs of the Polish Canadian Community in Ottawa. He was predeceased by his first wife Maria (Koscielecka), his daughter Annula, seven brothers and four sisters and is survived by his second wife Wanda (nee Buj), his son Stan and his sisters Bronia and Wladyslawa. Family will receive friends at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 235 Kent Street on Monday, September 30th from 7 to 10 p.m. Prayers at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening in the funeral home. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, October 1st at 10 a.m. in St. Hyacinth's Church (corner of Louisa and Lebreton Sts.) The family would like to offer special thanks to Danuta Cieslukowska and family for Wladyslaw's care and attention during his last months.
