Ambassador Peacefully at the Centre Hospitalier de la Vallee de l'Outaouais, Quebec, Friday, October 4, 2002. Mr. Bernardin age 67 years. Son of the late Leonce Bernardin and Eunice Jean-Louis. Beloved husband of Verena Haldemann. Loving father of Jeanne and Jacques Alexis. Devoted grandfather of Julien. Dear brother of Euphonise, Marie-Nelly, late Marie-Therese, Fritz, Jacques, Jean-Claude, Daniel and Jocelyn. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends. The Ambassador Bernardin in 1991 after a career as professor at the College de Levis, took on the position as the Minister of Planning and External Cooperation. In 1995 he was elected as first Senator of the North Republic of Haiti and in 2001 became Ambassador to Canada.
