N. R. Passed away suddenly in Ottawa, on October 25, 2002 at the age of 77 years. Beloved husband of Thelma G. Pearson (nee Riddell). Father of Roy W. Pearson and grandfather of Jessica A. Pearson and William R. Pearson. He leaves behind his brother Lionel Pearson and sisters Vivian Moffatt, Doris Brennan and Sylvia Roberts. Basil served with the Federal Services for 40 years (28 years Army and 21 years Civil Service), also served with the Corps of Commissionaires. Basil coached minor hockey in Pembroke, Nepean and Ottawa. He was a Cub Master and Assistant District Commissioner in Champlain District and a Cub Master in Ottawa. He was a member of the Lodge of Fidelity, AF and AM #231, Order of the Eastern Star, Ottawa Chapter #37, Lorraine Chapter #44 and Knox United Church. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe at Richmond Road, on Monday, October 28, 2002 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Masonic Service will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, October 28th in the funeral home. A Funeral will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Those who wish to make a donation to the Diabetes Association would be appreciated. The Ottawa Citizen, 28-10-2002
