Passed away after a short illness at Credit Valley Hospital on December 2, 2002. Beloved husband of Doris (nee Wilson). Fondly remembered by niece Marlene Armstrong (Ken) of Ottawa. Predeceased by his mother Hannah Aubrey and his father Walter Fanshaw. Sadly missed by many relatives and friends. For 25 years Mel held a senior management position with Scott's Restaurants organization. In 1960 he was moved from the Toronto office to Ottawa as General Manager for the area chicken operations, the service restaurant and the vending machine services at Scott's. In 1966 he was moved to Montreal as Vice President of Scott's Restaurants Limitee. He was directly involved with the rapid growth of La Villa du Poulet in Montreal as well as the towns and cities where Scott's had KFC chicken franchise rights. While Mel was in Quebec they opened over 90 KFC chicken stores in the province. Later, he returned to Scott's corporate office in Toronto as the company's financial officer. He was a very private person and had a deep respect for those around him. Mel loved animals, especially cats, and vacations in Hawaii.
