(nee Armstrong) Jean passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Ottawa Civic Hospital while listening to her favorite music on Friday, December 13, 2002 at the age of 76. Jean was born in 1926 in Toronto and was the beloved daughter of Howard "HR" Barney Armstrong, originally from Peterborough and Doris Armstrong (nee McDonald), originally from Waubashene. Jean grew up in Ottawa with her brother Bob Armstrong and sister Neen Davidson (nee Armstrong). She attended Glebe High School, worked in the parliamentary newsroom during the Second World War and was formerly married to Robert Grace. Jean later worked in the public service with Statistics Canada. Loving mother of Barry Grace & Geoff Grace, loving and devoted grandmother of Geoffrey and Chelsea. Jean was a special person. She loved and helped many people and always had open arms for others in distress regardless of their station in life. She exemplified the expression "Keep it simple", and was not impressed by pomp and circumstance. She just cared deeply for people and helped whenever she could. Jean loved spending time with her family and their dog "Maguire" at the cottage in Kingsmere and later enjoyed spending time with her two sons, taking drives up to Wakefield and visiting her loving grandchildren and true friends when she lived on McLeod Street. Jean will be deeply missed by her family and friends. The best way to remember Jean would be to practice random acts of kindness to strangers or those less fortunate. A private funeral ceremony will be held later this week.
