Peacefully and with dignity, December 15, 2002 in Ottawa after a lengthy battle with M.S. Born March 22, 1955 in the Nation's Capital, Kirk exemplified what Canadians hold dear.He was fun loving, expressive, tolerant, dedicated, responsible, loyal, involved, a fighter and a firm believer in justice for all. Kirk was a natural athlete who played football, hockey, lacrosse and skied with equal parts determination and flair. A Carleton University Urban Planning Honours Grad, Kirk became an active and outspoken health advocate when faced with Multiple Sclerosis in his prime. Wherever he went he was popular. Throughout his life, men, children and especially (women) were drawn to Kirk's bright warm light. He loved people, fine food (and drink) and he loved to talk. He met life's challenges head on, and those who knew him loved him. Strong and dedicated son of Margery Zufelt and Sandy Boyce (deceased). Beloved brother to Laurie. Cherished uncle of Daniel Kirk. Dearly loved by Godparents Eleanor Silver and the late Andrew Silver and good friend to many and respected by all. Special thanks to Marion and Ken Dewar, Dr. Winter and all those who helped Kirk during his illness. Celebration of Kirk's life will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St., Thursday, December 19, 2002 at 1 p.m. Reception to follow. Interment Wellington Cemetery in the Spring (with his Mum). Memorial donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society would be appreciated by the family. The Ottawa Citizen, 18-12-2002
