HORTON, Harold (Baldy) At home surrounded by hisfamily on Sunday, May 12, 2002 at the age of 82. Loving husband of Lila Horton for 50 years. Dear father of Glenna Corbiere (Ken) and Jennifer both of Blind River, Debbie Thelland (Henry) of Sault Ste. Marie and Joe (Marilyn) of North Bay. Grandfather of Kristina (Tim), Nadia, Anya, Spencer, Brianna, Renata, Adam and Amy. Dear brother of Alice Maybrea of Lakefield, Alma Leishman of Lively and the late Elmer, Clifford and Clarence. Special uncle to Sandra Thompson (Bill). Loved and respected uncle, great uncle and great great uncle to many nieces and nephews. Harold "Baldy" retired in 1984 from the Ministry of Transportation after 36 years of service. He served in the Algonquin Regiment during WWII in Holland, Denmark and France. He recently was awarded the "Medal of Remembrance" from the Dutch Canadian Legion for his role in the liberation of that country. Harold was also the recipient of the "Jubilee Medal" in 1977, commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. This medal was given in recognition of his contribution to the community. Friends may call at the Menard Funeral Home, Blind River, on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral service to be held Wednesday, May 15th at 11:00 a.m. from St. Saviour’s Anglican Church with Rev. Margaret Rogers officiating. Cremation to follow. Donations to the St. Saviour’s Building Fund or the Golden Birches Terrace would be greatly appreciated by the family. 5/13/2002- ID334794 - Sault Star
