Ruby Ida Shannon, 77 Ruby Ida Shannon, of Prescott, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at Brockville General Hospital. She was 77. She was born Oct. 9, 1925 in Kemptville, the daughter of Charles Shepperd and Estelle Wilson. She was predeceased by her husbands, Leonard Shannon and Morgan Barnard. Mrs. Shannon was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Brockville General Hospital and Canada Post as a Mrs. Santa letter writer. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Royal Canadian Legion and Spencerville Mill Foundation. She had been employed as a secretary at an insurance broker's office and on a mail route in Spencerville. She is survived by her daughter Beverley Sloan and her husband Ron; son Bill Barnard and his wife Jackie; grandchildren Jeff and his fiance Amy Finucan, Danny Sloan, Jodi Hunter and her husband Chad, and Darryl Barnard; great grandchild Delaney Hunter; sister Ethel Moore; and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her parents, brothers Donald and Howard Shepperd, and her sister Edna Shepperd. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott. There was no visitation. A memorial service took place at Spencerville United Church, Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002 at 11 am, with Cathy Kelso officiating. Her sister-in-law Mabel Shannon said the eulogy. Cremation took place at Cataraqui Crematorium Dec. 14. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
