Julie Marie Leonard (Meshake) It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our sister, daughter, aunt, and mother, Julie, on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002. Julie lived most of her life on Manitou Rapids. She loved beading, making leather crafts, playing Bingo, attending family gatherings, and recently, spending as quality time with her granddaughter, Julianna. Julianna brought much love and pride to Julie’s life. Julie was born May 19, 1957 in Emo, Ont. to Daniel and Roseanne Leonard of Manitou Rapids. Julie is survived by her mother, Roseanne Leonard, of Rainy River First Nations; and her daughter, Violet and husband, Jaysen Indian, and their daughter, Julianna, all of Big Island First Nation. She also is survived by one brother, James Daniel Leonard and wife, Debbie; three sisters, Josephine and husband, Steve Markewich, Verna and Tony Bombay of Rainy River First Nations, and Debbie and husband, Domenic Servello, of Fort Frances, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Daniel Leonard; sister, Doris Leonard; nephew, Desmond DeBungie; and son, Robert James Provencher. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 3, 2002 at 11:30 a.m. at the Manitou Rapids Gymna-sium at Rainy River First Nations. Rev. Eileen Bragg will officiate, with interment in Manitou Rapids Cemetery. A wake will be held Saturday, March 2, 2002 starting at 4 p.m. at the Manitou Rapids Gymnasium until service time. Pallbearers will be James Daniel Leonard II, Steve Markewich, Tony Bombay, Terry Pickard, Domenic Servello, and William Wehrenberg. Honourary pallbearers will be Carolyn and Mel Wiegand, Dar-lene Bob, Susan Horton, Jean Bombay, Viola Medicine, and Jessie Smith.
