AILENE STELLA SHABATURA Ailene Stella Shabatura, 71, of 612 Third St. E., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at La Verendrye General Hospital. She was born Nov. 16, 1930 in Fort Frances and had lived here all her life. Ailene was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church and the Anglican Church Guild. She enjoyed bowling and also was a member of the seniors’ bowling league. Her family was very important to her, especially her grandchildren. Ailene was united in marriage May 21, 1949 to Carl, who survives along with their son, Kurt (Gloria Maki) of Fort Frances, Ont. and daughter, Karen (Gordon) Bell of Alberton Township, Ont. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Brooke and Brett Shabatura, Shauna (Rob) McKee, Heather Bell (Ron Mondor), and Jeremy Bell; four great-grandchildren, April, Tanner, Cody, and Hannah; brothers, Joe (Irene) McKelvie and Ernie McKelvie, all of Fort Frances, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Stella McKelvie; and brother, Walter McKelvie. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 23, 2002 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Anglican Church, with Fr. Wayne McIntosh officiating. In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
