Lloyd "Bud" Stinson The family of Lloyd “Bud” Stinson regretfully announces his passing on Tuesday, May 7, 2002 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Bud was born May 30, 1920 in Fort Frances, Ont. He attended both elementary and high school in Fort Frances. On Aug. 28, 1943, he married Vergil Riley. Together, they built and managed the Texaco station in Fort Frances in the 1950s. After it was sold, they managed the Point Park Pavilion for one season in 1957. In 1958-1960, he worked in the International Falls Insulite Division of M & O. From 1960-1980, he and Verg operated the former Bert Henry’s garage on the corner of Scott and Victoria (it was called Stinson’s Service). He retired in 1980. Bud was an avid pool player, enjoying many games throughout his life. He and Verg also spent many happy days up the lake at the cabin on Reef Point. He was predeceased by his parents, Jura and Iva; brothers, George, Donnie, and Robert; and sister, Pearl Dahl. Bud is survived by his wife, Verg; sons, Lee and wife, Kirsten, and Terry and wife, Marilyn, as well as five grandchildren, whom he was very proud of, Chris, Jon, Vicki, Kati, and Kerri. He also leaves to mourn his sister, Jean Lecuyer; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Rev. Marietta Marshall officiating.
