ROSEMARY (BUNNY) MEADES Rosemary (Bunny) Meades, of 423 Second St. E., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002 at La Verendrye General Hospital. Bunny was born Jan. 23, 1928 in Toronto, Ont. Bunny married Harold Meades on Aug. 26, 1948. In the beginning, they lived in Toronto, later moving to Trenton and then Oshawa. While in southern Ontario, Bunny worked many years for Bell Telephone. She especially loved spending her summers at the cottage on the Trent Canal. Bunny also fully involved herself with her children’s activities, including swimming with the Oshawa Aquatic Club. In 1971, she moved with her family to Fort Frances to help operate Northern Lites Camp and later Camp Manitou. Bunny enjoyed needlecrafts, sewing, and knitting beautiful sweaters for her grandchildren. She was an avid curler in her younger years. She also loved to watch figure skating, and was a past president of the Border Figure Skating Club. Bunny is survived by her children, Susan (Dan) Puttkemery, and their children, Matthew, Bethany, and Garratt, of Stayner, Ont., Richard (Marielle) Meades, and their children, Natashia and Justin, of Winnipeg, Man., Ryan of International Falls, Mn., and Penny (Frank) McComb, and their children, Andrew and Sarah, of Fort Frances, Ont. She also will be missed by her sister, Betty (Allan) Jones, and children, David, Kathy, and Greg, all of West Hill, Ont.; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. Bunny was predeceased by her parents, Ninto and Kathleen Garratt of Toronto, Ont.; and her husband, Harold of Fort Frances, Ont. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 23, 2002 at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Anglican Church in Fort Frances. Fr. Wayne McIntosh officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances. Pallbearers were Richard Meades, Frank McComb, Dan Puttkemery, and Don Puttkemery.
