Almena Mae Hanley Passed away suddenly April 17, 2002 at the Kingston General Hospital. Born in Keelerville Ontario to Isaac and Dessie McIlroy, Almena was the wife of the late Horace Hanley. She attended Keelerville Public School and as a young woman worked in Gananoque as a waitress and at Alcan during WWII. Almena settled in as a housewife in Battersea where she attended Battersea United Church. She and her husband moved to Kingston 33 years ago. She thoroughly enjoyed going to baseball games, fishing and shopping. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband. Almena is survived by her son George (Theresa); daughter, Judy (Paul) Davey; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; brother, Hanlan McIlroy and sister Dorothy (Munroe) Miller. The funeral was held April 20, 2002 with Reverend William Whiston officiating. Pallbearers were Stephen Hanley, Christopher Hanley, Douglas Davey, Bill Vogel, Todd McKay and John Kemp. Honourary pallbearers were Christian and Liam Vogel. Interment was at Sandhill Cemetery, Battersea. 027014 6/8/2002- ID439388 - Kingston Whig Standard
