Keith James Manson 72 years of age, passed away suddenly June 28, 2002 at his home on Rock Lake, Verona. The son of the late Russell and Nettie (Thompson) Manson, he was born on the family farm on the Petworth Road. After graduating from Sydenham High School, he lived for most of his life in the Harrowsmith area, except for a brief time in Kingston and Toronto. Keith was employed by the Canadian Locomotive Company and National Grocers before he owned a garage business in Harrowsmith for a time. Corrections Canada was his place of his employment for the next 32 years. Kingston Penitentiary, Millhaven, Collins Bay and Joyceville where he retired as Assistant Warden, Correctional Programs in 1991. His hobbies were raising Simmental cattle, miniature horses, woodworking, history and reading. Keith was a member and former warden at St. Peters Anglican Church, Harrowsmith, and a fifty year member, past master and life member of Albion Masonic lodge. He belonged to the order of the Eastern Star, Loughboro Chapter, served until he moved as deputy chief of the former Portland Township Fire Department, affiliated with the Beef Association and was a member of the Portland District Cemetery Board at the time of his death. The funeral was held from the Lindsay Funeral Home with the Reverend Jim McShane and the Reverend Bob Thorne officiating. Reg Shier was the reader, Bill McDonald the soloist. Touching eulogies were delivered by Cliff Weir and Dr. Harold Quinn. Russell and Dale Manson, Larry Redden, Ron and Craig Goslin and Reg Watson were pallbearers. The honourary pallbearers were Cam Crawford, Jack Ellerbeck and Jim Killen. Burial was in the family plot in Harrowsmith. He was predeceased by an infant son and is sadly missed by his wife of 48 years Eileen (Goslin); children, Carol, Kingston, Scott (Cheryl), Ajax; Lisa (John) Shillington, Sydenham and grandchildren Booke, Brent and Chad Manson, Alexa and Haydn Shillington and his brother Kenneth. 045479 8/17/2002- ID719608 - Kingston Whig Standard
