Crawford MacGregor "Mac" Hercus W.W.II Vet & Local Businessman Born in Manitoba in 1922, Mac passed away in Milton Keynes, England November 29, 2002. His funeral was held at St. Michael’s Church, Aspley Heath. Mac joined the R.C.A. in 1939 as an artillery instructor and served as captain with the First Canadian Army in Europe. He was made Honorary Citizen of Meerle, Belgium in recognition of his role in their liberation. He remained overseas with his Anglo-Belgian wife Jacqueline (Forgan-Potts), and studied civil engineering at "Khaki College". In 1947, Mac returned to Canada, joining the Hercus family which had moved to Kingston during the war. He became a founding partner of the Will-Mac Construction Company & acquired his own asphalt plant for road paving. As well, Mac was active with the Kiwanis, and an honorary member of the R.C.E.M.E. Mess. In 1960, Mac, Jackie and daughter Suzan emigrated to England where he owned and operated the Bucks Standard Newspaper Group- Newport-Pagnell until his retirement in 1985. Predeceased by his parents Major Crawford and Estelle Hercus (Kingston). Survived by widow Jackie, daughter Suzan St Maur and grandson Thomas (England); brother Barry Hercus (Toronto) and sister Sherrill Dunlop-Donaldson (Kingston); niece Alyson Cahill (Ottawa) and nephews John and Michael Hercus (Toronto) and John C.W.
