William "Bill" Edward Rourke November 11, 1911 - May 01, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home * ROURKE…..William (Bill) Edward, age 93, of Falmouth, Hants County, died Sunday, May 1, 2005, at the Q.E.II, New Halifax Infirmary, after a short illness. Born 11/11/1911 in Mount Denson, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he grew up and lived in Falmouth. He was the son of the late George and Eva (Bezanson) Rourke. Bill’s story is one of hard work from an early age in the woods, farms and orchards. He was a carpenter, a farmhand, a logger, and he picked up numerous jobs and skills in a long career. Bill was well known in the region for his ability to contribute to the construction of numerous homes and buildings in the area for the past seventy years. He was a good honest man, with a kind spirit, well rooted in the local community. Bill and his wife, Effie, built a strong relationship together as they worked side by side while raising their family. As a father and grandfather who harbored a strong sense of commitment for being there for his family, he will be missed. Bill is survived by his daughter, Eva Allen, Halifax; sister, Myrtle Deal, Halifax; brother, Lester (Gwen) Rourke, Falmouth; seven grand children, Susan Rourke, Rose Stoddard, William Rourke, Danny Rourke, Randy Rourke, Shelly Laidlaw, Rob Allen; six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Effie May Pemberton (1990); son, Carl Rourke; brother, Arthur Rourke; sisters, Shirley Peach, Bessie Gold and Erma Cox. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 3rd, from 2–4 p.m. and 7–9 p.m. in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 4th, 2005, in the Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Garnet Parker officiating. Interment to follow in the Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
