Rhoda Ann (Baxter) Schlender CROSSFIELD, AB - You will be missed today, tomorrow, and will remain forever in our hearts. Rhoda, 72, wife of Alvin Schlender of Crossfield, AB, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2005, after a courageous 6 month battle with cancer. Born in Harcourt, NB, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Alma (Beers) Baxter. She attended Crossfield United Church. Rhoda graduated from Teachers College in Fredericton and taught for 37 years - six years in NB (Bridgedale, Point du Chene and Riverview) and 31 years in Alberta (Medicine Hat, Calgary and Airdrie). She had a sweet, soft nature about her and was well liked and respected by all who knew her. She enjoyed her many friends and family, good humor, cards and even those coin machines in her later years. She is survived by her husband, Alvin; two sons, Colin (Martie-Jo) of Crossfield, AB, and Kevin (Heidi) of Airdrie, AB; four brothers, Gordon (Margaret), Edward (Judy), John (Bev), all of Lower Coverdale, NB and Goodwin (Diane) of Winnipeg, MB; five sisters, Leola (Don) DeWolfe of Lower Coverdale, NB, Carol (Randy) Page of Ottawa, ON, Gwen (William) Mahoney of Elgin, NB, Alice (Richard) Harrison of Dartmouth, NS, and Heather (Ed) Simon of Ottawa, ON; three precious granddaughters, Dominique, Danielle and Kylie; one brother-in-law, Ralph Steeves of Riverview, NB; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Rhoda was predeceased by her brother, Frank in 1996 and her sister, Margaret Steeves in 1979. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of McInnis and Holloway, Calgary, AB. The funeral service will be held in Crossfield, AB, on May 20, 2005, followed by interment at the Crossfield Cemetery. Rev Greg Wooley will be officiating the service.
