Ruth Joycelene Hazelden (née Robar) October 08, 1928 - May 18, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Halifax) HAZELDEN (Robar), Ruth Joycelene - 76, Hatchet Lake, passed away after a short illness on May 18, 2005, surrounded by her devoted family at home. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Amy Robar. She was a long-time member of St. Christopher's Church, Hatchet Lake, and continued to be an active member until the time of her illness. Ruth was a devoted wife and loving mother to her five children. After raising her children, she continued to provide childcare to Matthew and Sarah in her home. She enjoyed traveling, reading and embroidery. The bright spot in her life was her grandchildren, Kristopher, Sarah, Russell, Andrew and Stefanie. She had a special place in her heart for her adopted daughter, Cath Stove. Ruth will be forever remembered for her gentle spirit and the love she gave so freely. Remaining are her loving husband, Russell; sons, Russell (Carol), Victor (Anita), Joseph (Karen), and daughters, Marlyn and Jeanette (Eric); sister, June Pettitt; brother, Rodney Robar; nieces, Pamela Gasparetta, Margot Sullivan and Ann MacDivitt. She was predeceased by her sister, Margaret, and brother, Jim. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, where visitation will take place today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in St. Christopher's Roman Catholic Parish in Hatchet Lake on Saturday, May 21, at 11 a.m. with Father Gerald David officiating. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in her memory to the Palliative are Unit, 7th Floor, VG Site, QEII or Victorian Order of Nurses.
