STEWART, RUSSELL-passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 8, 2005 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, at the age of 82.Ê Loving husband of Carmelita for 59 years.Ê Dear father of Carmen (Lynn) Stewart and RoseMarie (Eric).Ê Loving grandfather of Jennifer and Paul Stewart and Chelsie and Russell Hicks.Ê Dear brother of Charles (Delores), Clifford (Linda), Tom (Ann), Ed (Bev), Nancy (John) Gauthier and Marg Merritt. Russell is also survived by his sisters-in-law Edna, Mary Lou and Ann. ÊPredeceased by his parents Ernest and Rose.Ê Predeceased by his brothers Bob, David, Fred, Victor and his sister Maude.Ê Russell served overseas during the Second World War with the 48th Highlander from 1942-1946. Russell worked for the Norton Company for 35 years and also served as president with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #396 for several years. The family would like express their thanks to Sharon, Tracy and the entire staff on the Trillium Unit of GNGH for their care and compassion shown to Russell during his stay. Russell is at the MORSE & SON CHAPEL of the MORGAN FUNERAL HOMES 5917 Main Street where his family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.Ê Vigil will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 8:00 o'clockÊ A service under the auspices of Br.396 of the Royal Canadian Legion will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 8:30 o'clock.Ê Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church (Chippawa) on Friday morning at 11:00 o'clock. The Rite of Committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery.Ê In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society through the funeral home.
