OVEREND, Ernest "Gordon" Miles - Peacefully on April 17, 2005 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, at the age of 90 years.Ê Loving husband to Elizabeth Anne "Betty Anne" (nee Losier) for 17 years, and the late Ella Victoria (nee Wilson) for 43 years. Father of Nonnie Kiemele, Peter Overend (Janice), Jody Overend (Charlie Tessaro) and Dena Splinter (Phil).Ê Step-father of Gary Norton and Julie Norton.Ê Cherished "Grandpa" of Carl and Peter Kiemele, Tory and Cate Overend, and Kristin, Karen, Michael and James Splinter.Ê Brother of Margaret, Bruce, Howard (Clara), Dorthea, and Ruth. Gordon was a lover of music, poetry, nature, justice, and his family.Ê He was a respected educator, an active volunteer, and a valued member of the Niagara and Bela Communities.Ê He was involved with the Kiwanis Club, Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, Niagara Concerts, and the University of Guelph Alumni.Ê In his retirement Gordon also enjoyed skiing, skating, sailing, and singing. Family will receive friends at the Morse & Son Chapel of the Morgan Funeral Homes, 5917 Main Street, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 o'clock.
