Christopher "Chris" Brennan Richards September 11, 1981 - May 21, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) RICHARDS, Christopher Brennan "Chris" - 23, Cole Harbour, passed away suddenly Saturday, May 21, 2005, in Fort Providence, N.W.T., as a result of a canoeing accident. Born September 11, 1981 in Halifax, he was a son of Dennis and Genevieve (Brennan) Richards, Cole Harbour. Chris was currently working in the area of natural health promotion in Yellowknife. Chris' zest and appreciation for life was evident in the way he lived his life, being very close with nature and enjoying in its awesome beauty. He participated in a number of retreats and sweat lodge "experiences" in his desire to know his relationship with nature and the earth and the new direction for his life. He excelled in sports and was a qualified tennis instructor. He was a naturally artistic person who enjoyed painting, design, photography, hiking, camping and music. One of his latest accomplishments was teaching himself to play the guitar. This came so naturally to Chris and his gift of music is described by his family and friends as "truly phenomenal". He graduated from Auburn Drive High School in 1999, and then from Dalhousie University in 2004 with a B.Sc. in Kinesiology. Along with his parents, Chris is survived by sister, Jennifer (Brent) Law, Cole Harbour; brother, Adrian, Yellowknife; nephew, Zachary Law; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a very large circle of friends who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Clyde and Genevieve Brennan; paternal grandparents, Arthur and Sarah Richards. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where Chris' family will receive friends from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday in Pope John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, Colby Drive, Chris' uncle, Father Jim Richards officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Private family interment at a later date in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only.
