Bertha "Birdie" Georgina Mirowski (née Hardy) September 24, 1917 - May 24, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre Mrs. Bertha (Birdie) Georgina Mirowski passed away unexpectedly at Grandview Lodge on May 24, 2005. Bertha was born on September 24, 1917 in Fort Frances, Ontario, the daughter of George Albert and Bertha Lily Hardy (nee: Little). Bertha moved to Port Arthur with her mother and sister Mabel where she attended school. She met Carl (Karol) Mirowski in Port Arthur outside his shoe repair shop and they married on October 10, 1938 at St. John’s Anglican Church in Port Arthur. They moved to Westfort where they operated the shoe repair shop on Brown Street and raised their many children. Later, Bertha worked at McKellar Hospital in the annex. She is survived by sons and daughters, stepson Carl (May), Karolyn Woodgate, Joseph, Vondales Broome, Lois (Ed) Mannisto, Graydon, James of Ottawa, Darrell (Jean), brother Frank (Myrna) Moline of Victoria and sister Violet Brunner of Arizona. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her parents George Hardy and Bertha Bryce, husband Carl Mirowski in 1983, their youngest daughter Janie and her son Christopher in 1976, daughter Judith Miyata in 1996, sisters Hilda Moline and Mabel Killin and sister-in-law Anita Buchin (nee: Mirowski Dutka). Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Mirowski will be held on Friday, May 27, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Jenkens Funeral Home, 226 S. Syndicate Avenue, with reception to follow.
