SMALL, SPENCER WILLIAM - 79, of Woodwards Cove, Grand Manan passed away Thursday evening May 26, 2005 at the Grand Manan Hospital , North Head, N.B. with his family at his side. Spencer was born January 26, 1926 at Lubec, Maine, the eldest son of Walter George and Mildred Virginia (Lovatt) Small. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific, and after his honorable discharge he returned home and worked in the fishery. Survived by his wife Alice (McDowell) and their children Virginia (Daniel) Rogers of Saint John NB, John (Joan), Roderick, of Grand Manan NB, Wade (Diane) of Ottawa ON, Laurel of Grand Manan, Walter (Chantal) of Cornwall ON, Monte (Joanne) of Hendersonville NC, and Maria (Paul) Pickering of Steuben ME. One brother Burton (Rowena) of Grand Manan, two sisters Mary (Herbert) McAlister and Jetta Smith both of Westbrook ME. Twelve Grandchildren and three Great Grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Visiting will be held from the funeral home Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. At Spencer's request there will be a Grave Side service at Maple Grove Cemetery Sunday May 29th, 2005 at 1:00 PM with the service performed by Leon Smet a family friend and representative of Jehovah's Witnesses.
