Sydney Lewis Wile, CA January 12, 1935 - May 26, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) WILE, Sydney Lewis, CA - Passed away at home on Thursday, May 26, 2005, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Sydney was born in Windsor on January 12, 1935, to the late Lottie Mae (Benedict) Wile and Gladstone Eward Wile. He graduated from Windsor Academy in 1951, and then worked for the Bank of Nova Scotia until 1963. At that time, he joined Barrow, Nicoll & Co., with a view to obtaining his Chartered Accountancy. He pursued this ambition when he moved to the Auditor General's office with the Province of Nova Scotia in 1967, and subsequently was admitted to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia. He then served for 10 years in the budget division of the Department of Finance, followed by eight years as the provincial tax commissioner. He retired in July 1991, as the provincial controller. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a long-time member of Brightwood Golf and Country Club. Syd was predeceased by his brother, Gerald, and his sisters, Erma and Nita. He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly; his children, Wendy, Bruce, Mark and Robin, as well as grandchildren Brian, Rebecca, Scott and Andrew; step-grandchildren, Scott and Shane, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 30, at 10 a.m. in Bethel Baptist Church, followed by a reception in Syd's memory at Brightwood Golf and Country Club. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
