Gladys Annie Gavin (née Brown) July 18, 1910 - May 26, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) GAVIN (Brown), Gladys Annie - 94, formerly of Portage, P.E.I., passed away peacefully in Oceanview Manor on Thursday, May 26, 2005. Born on July 18, 1910, she was predeceased by her husband, Emmett J.C. Gavin; brothers, John, Jim, Dan, Abraham, Lee, Alexander, Austin, Thomas and Frederick (Brown); sisters, May (Gallant) and Laura (O'Connor). She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her sons, John, Florida; Louis, Prince Edward Island; daughters, Anna Enouf (Phil), Victoria, B.C.; Shirley Greenough (Jack), Dartmouth; Betty Brokenshire, Dartmouth; Francis Trego (Bob), Virginia; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. We will miss Gladys' spunky personality. Gladys loved life and she celebrated life with her involvement in community (CWL Life Member), Saint Thomas More Parish. She had a great love of sewing and a keen interest in fashion, having made all of her own clothes and the clothes of her children. Gladys loved to travel and she especially loved her trips to Charlottetown, P.E.I, for Harness Racing during Old Home Week celebrations. She was truly dedicated to her family. The joy she experienced through the active participation in the lives of her grandchildren was obvious to those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and especially her daughter, Betty, her primary caregiver. Her family would like to acknowledge, with thanks and appreciation, the extraordinary care given to Gladys by all staff of Oceanview Manor and in particular, the compassion and care extended to Gladys and her family on Floors I (Unit D) and 3. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. in Saint Thomas More Church, Caledonia Road, Dartmouth, on Monday, May 30, Father Irek Bem officiating. Reception to follow mass in the church hall. Burial will be in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. By request, family visitation only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gladys' memory to the Oceanview Manor, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, or a charity of your choice. Nana, we love you.
