Harold Horncastle November 12, 1924 - May 27, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Fair Haven Funeral Home Harold (Had) Allen Horncastle passed away peacefully on Friday, May 27, 2005 in Moncton. Had was born in Fredericton on November 12, 1924 to J. Allen and Minney (Forsey) Horncastle, is predeceased by his older brother Carl, and is survived by younger sister Patricia of Moncton. He was a Veteran of The Second World War having served with the Carleton York Regiment, Canadian Army, Pacific Force. Had deeply loved his family, his friends and his music. He was a founding member of the Rail City Barbershop Chorus in Moncton, an active member of his church choir, a member of the Fredericton Epsilon Y'smen long-running Smokeymokes minstrel show from 1948 through 1964, and a baritone in the popular barbershop quintet, the "4 + 1", in Fredericton in the 1950s and 1960s. Had will be deeply missed by his and Joan's children, Roger (Pat) in Winnipeg, Rob (Denise) in Fredericton, and Mary Jane in Halifax, and their beloved grandchildren, Leigh, Julia, Mariel, and Jack. Funeral services will be held at St. John's United Church 75 Alma Street, Moncton at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2nd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
