Joe HUM

HUM, Joe G. (B. Com.) Peacefully, with his family by his side, on May 3, 2005, at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Gertrude. Loving father to Peter (Valerie Deschenes) Hum and Sandra (Howard) Hayes. Dear grandfather to Pascal Hum and Brendan Hayes. He is also survived by two sisters Jessie (Alex) Mah of Richmond, B.C. and Kim (Eric) Cheung of Scarborough, Ontario. He was predeceased by his brothers Thomas Hum and Charles Hum. Joe proudly co-owned and operated the Marco Polo Tavern Restaurant from 1956 to 1983. In 1961, he began his 35 year career with Empire Life Insurance as a representative. Joe was a member and Past-President of the Chinese Community Association. His passions and pastimes included playing bridge, fishing and attending football and hockey games. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St., Ottawa, Thursday, May 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, May 6, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.
