Gordon Marshall WARD

WARD, Gordon Marshall B.Sc., M.A., Ph.D., FCIC, FRCCO Passed away, peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2005 at Sterling Place in Ottawa, Ontario, age 93 years. Son of the late Rev. Archibald and Margaret Ward; beloved husband of the late June Ward (nee Stewart) (d.2002) and the late Aribert Ward (nee Helmer) (d.1963); loved father of Judith (Theodore) White, Douglas (Cynthia), Bruce and Allan (d.1970); dear grandfather of Andrea, Christopher and Kevin White, Ross Ward and great-granddaughter Mara Landers. Predeceased by his brother John and sister Winnifred Stibbards. Gordon was a Research Scientist with the Canadian Department of Agriculture for 43 years and published 80 scientific research papers. His many accomplishments included being a senior officer in the RCAF during WWII, a Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada and a Fellow of the Royal Canadian College of Organists. After his retirement Gordon wrote 21 books on a variety of religious and biographical subjects including two histories that were published. Gordon was an active Christian layman in Baptist Churches in Saskatoon, Ottawa, Kingsville, Leamington, Windsor, Kitchener and Brantford, serving on many boards and committees and as a church organist and choir director for 25 years in various churches in Ontario. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Kitchener. He is greatly celebrated by friends and family. The Ward family invites friends to share their memories on Friday, May 6, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, Ontario. On Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 2 p.m., a memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Ward will take place in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Daz Sydney officiating. A private family interment will take place in Brantford on Saturday morning prior to the service. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Baptist Missions or the CNIB would be appreciated and can be arranged through the funeral home.
