VALADARES, Joseph R. E. Tuesday, May 10, 2005. Joseph Valadares, age 73. Beloved husband of Evelyn (nee D'Souza). Loving father of Kevin (Katie) and Mervyn. Doting Grandpa of Samuel and Vivian Valadares. Son of the late Reginald and Maria Valadares. Dear brother of Philomena (Francis D'Souza), Rita (Leo Lobo) and Theresa (the late Joe Rodrigues). Joseph will be fondly remembered by many friends and family. Born in Ahmedabad, India, Joe received his PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Oklahoma. He was a professor of Pharmacology at UBC and the University of Ottawa, followed by a long career as a reviewer of prescription drugs with Health Canada. Joe was a faithful and involved parishioner of St. Leonard's Roman Catholic Church in Manotick where he was most active in the parish outreach program (Amor Dei). He was an avid proponent of organic gardening and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. Joe will be remembered for his generosity, compassion and sense of humour. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 3000 Woodroffe Avenue (Barrhaven) Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Saturday to St. Leonard's Church, Manotick, for Mass of Christian Funeral at 11 a.m. In Memoriam donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute appreciated.
