Leendert Pieter Kole, 90 Leendert Pieter Kole, a resident of Prescott, died March 27, 2005 at Kingston General Hospital at the age of 90. He was born on Sept. 29, 1914 at Kruiningen, Holland to parents Pieter Kole and Elizabeth Van Iwaarde. He married Janna Kole (nee Bom) on Aug. 7, 1941 at Waarde, the Netherlands. Mr. Kole was a construction labourer who came to Canada and settled in this area after a devastating flood in Holland in 1954. He was an avid gardener whose interests included his family, nature, trees and eating out at the 730 Truck Stop. He is survived by his daughters Elizabeth (David Evans) and Margaret (Bill Buckler), sons Pieter (Willi) and John (Betty), 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, brothers Zus, Adri and Paul, brother-in-law Jasper, sister-in-law Lena and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and wife, his brothers Chris and Piet and sons-in-law Dick Galbraith and John Ellerman. Visitation was held March 29, 2005 at the Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott. The funeral service was held in the chapel March 30. Rev. Pat Swann officiated. A committal service took place March 30 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland. Pallbearers were grandchildren Bonnie Major, Heather Dixon, Paul Ellerman, Janna Cooksley, Christa Ellerman and Bill Kole. Honourary pallbearer was Henny Galbraith. Memorial donations can be made to Roebuck United Church or a charity of choice.
