Gilbert J. Richardson 1925 - 2005 It is with great sorrow that the family of Gilbert Richardson announce his passing at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday, May 29, 2005, with his family by his side. Born in Bathurst, on June 25, 1925, he was the son of the late James Arthur and Mary (Patles) Richardson. A Veteran of The Second World War, Gilbert served overseas with the Royal Canadian Army, North Shore Regiment. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Salisbury Branch No.31. Gilbert worked for the Dept. of Transportation for several years before finding the career he so enjoyed for over 25 years with the CNR. Upon his retirement he continued to take great pride in working on the home he provided for his family, gardening, and going for camping excursions with his wife (especially near the shore) as well as having visits with his many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He leaves here on earth his wife of 57 years, Helen (Smith) of Upper Coverdale; daughters, Carol (Grant) Lewis, Violet (Charles) Gray, Maxine (Larry) Gallant, Debbie (Brian) McLean all of the Salisbury area, Pauline (Robert Freeman) Richardson, of Debert, NS, Winnifred (David) Burnham of Upper Coverdale, Louise (Barry) Gallagher of Millford, NS; as well as 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Alexander (James) Briggs of Hamilton, ON; his brother and best friend, George (Marie) of Riverview; a sister, Mildred Murphy of Hamilton, ON; a sister-in-law, Treva (Russell) Marks of Sussex. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sons whom he took great pride, Dwight in January 1976 and Howard in September 2003, as well as his older brother, James in 1988. Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visiting hours on Monday, May 30 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A celebration of Gilbert's life will take place in the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at 3:00 PM, Rev. Steve Berube officiating. A reception following the service, will be held in the Gardens View Reception Room of the funeral home. Interment in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens.
