STEVENSON, DONALD SPENCER At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Wednesday June 1, 2005 Donald Spencer Stevenson passed away at the age of 82. Born in Fredericton, he was a son of the late Robert Neil and Kathleen Elizabeth (Carr) Stevenson. Don, in his early years, was employed with John Palmer Shoe Factory. He then worked for James S. Neill & Son, and later the City of Fredericton with the Water & Sewage Department. During World War II he served with the Royal Canadian Armed Forces. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch #4 and the Elks branch 274. Don loved horse racing. He owned several horses, which raced at Fredericton Raceway and around the Maritimes. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. Survived by his wife of 62 years Anita; daughters Susan Downey (Mike) of Upper Kingsclear and Ellen Stevenson of Fredericton; son Mark Stevenson (Nicole) of Hanwell, NB; grandchildren Mitchell, Michaela, Stephanie and Corey; special niece Kaye, several other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by four brothers Robert, Charles, James and Harry. The family will receive friends at Bishop's Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Friday from 7-9 pm. A service will be held at Bishop's Funeral Home on Saturday June 4, 2005 at 2:00 pm with the Most Venerable John Sharpe and Rev. Elaine Hamilton officiating. Interment will be held at the Acton Cemetery. Contributions to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. Branch #4 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a tribute Friday at 7 pm at the Funeral Home. www.bishopsfuneralhome.com [Daily Gleaner]
