Emily Elsie Reta Dickson TRURO, NS - Emily Elsie Reta Dickson (nee Rushton) of Truro, Nova Scotia passed away at the Moncton City Hospital on June 6, 2005. Emily was born on Westchester Mountain, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. She was the daughter of Elijah Rushton and Annie (Jobe) Rushton. She was predeceased by her husband Wilfred Alexander in 1991 and will be sadly missed by her loving children Marilyn Challis (James), Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, Connie Ayer (Richard) of Sackville, New Brunswick, Bonnie Cuming (Gary) of Brule, Nova Scotia and Harold Dickson (Najla) of Easton, Pennsylvania. Emily had six grandchildren, Lori Pike, Peter Cuming, Suzanne (Ayer) Soper, Jonathan Cuming, Matthew Ayer, Jane (Ayer) Hume; and two great grandchildren, Timothy and Heidi Soper. She will be missed by her dear brother, Garnet and loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Harold and sister Georgie. Emily was a devout Christian and member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was a founding member of two Baptist Churches in Newfoundland. A business woman, she had a career in accounting, life insurance and real estate. Emily's interests included genealogy, volunteer work at the Truro Historical Museum, and church-related activities. Emily had the gift of hospitality and her door was always open to one and all. She was a positive thinker and a spiritual inspiration to those around her. She loved the outdoors, family gatherings in the blueberry fields, travelling and evenings spent around the scrabble board. Emily will be resting at the Mattatall Funeral Home, Truro with visitations on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, Young Street, Truro on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at 2 p.m. followed by fellowship and refreshments in the church hall. Interment will be at the Millvale Cemetery near Williamsdale, Nova Scotia. Donations in Emily's memory may be made to Atlantic Baptist Women's c/o Immanuel Baptist Church or the Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation. "Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
