I. Lorne Bell 1916-2005 SACKVILLE, NB- I. Lorne Bell, age 88, of Sackville, N.B., passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, Sackville, N.B. Born in Calgary, Alberta on September 25, 1916, he was the son of the late Eber C. (Bud) and Charlotte G. (Simpson) Bell. Lorne graduated from Mount Allison University in 1941 with a BSc and honors in chemistry. He was an outstanding community volunteer and served on several boards and committees in the Sackville area. Lorne was a strong supporter of the SPCA and one of the founding members and past president of the Sackville Food Bank. He managed the restoration of the Jolicure Cemetery and was an honorary member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #26, Sackville, N.B. Lorne was awarded the Rotary International Paul Harris Fellowship in 2000 and received certificates of merit from the Province of New Brunswick and the Town of Sackville. Lorne will be sadly missed by his daughter, Coline (Holly) Bell of Halifax, NS; his son, Brian Bell of Ottawa, Ontario; his daughter, Lorrie (David) Bell- Hawkins of Sackville, NB; four grandchildren, Natasha Bell Cates, Lekas Bell, Ashley Lekas and Jacob Lekas and his special and devoted caregiver, Alex McLeod of Sackville, NB. He was predeceased by his wife JoAnne (Innes) Bell in 1998. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell's Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, NB (364-8188). Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by the request of the family. A memorial service will be held with the details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lorne can be made to the Sackville Food Bank, Jolicure Cemetery Fund or to the charity of one's choice. [Times & Transcript]
