MORRISON, THOMAS The death of Thomas Morrison of Fredericton occurred on Thursday, June 9th, 2005 at the Pine Grove Nursing Home. Thomas was raised in Hamilton Ontario, Tom was one of eight children. Born to Thomas and Mary Morrison of Glasgow, Scotland. Intelligent and exceptionally gifted, he excelled in music from a very early age and found in his music, a passion that all his life would never fade. In 1955 his music brought him to Fredericton, NB where he would live and eventually die. Contained in those 87 years was a life full of dedication and giving. Tom had a life full of community and individuals. They each left as much of an impact on his own life as he made on theirs. During the past 50 years "Mr. Music" has touched the lives of many here in Fredericton. He was a gentleman's gentleman and so shall he always remain in our memories. "I had something to give, I gave it freely and I got it back." Thomas was an organist and choir director at Wilmot United Church for 38 years. Fredericton High School Music Theater was named after him. He directed the first Fredericton High Musical Production in 1956; he directed 40 productions over his career and started what went on to become a FHS tradition. Tom was recognized in 1993, with the "125th Anniversary Commemorative Medal" for his enormous contributions to the city of Fredericton. In 1972 Tom moved from supervising all school music programs in the District, to teaching full time at FHS. He retired in 1984. During this time, his life touched many and opened doors for students to recognize the talents and opportunities within their reach. Tom is survived by two sons, Ian of Toronto, ON and Michael of Saint John, NB; daughter - in - law, Dorothy; grandsons, Ryan, and Marc; several nieces and nephews in Hamilton, ON. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann in 1964. Visitation will be held at McAdam Select Community Funeral Home on Saturday, June 11th, 2005 from 7-9 pm and Sunday, June 12th, from 2-4 and 79 pm. The funeral service will be held at Wilmot United Church on Monday, June 13th, 2005 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Bob Jones will officiate. Interment will be in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery.
