WILLIAMS, John V. - (W.W.II Veteran) Peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre (Hospital Drive Site) on January 17, 2005 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Williams (nee Heeley) to whom he was married for fifty years. Loving father of Alan John Williams (Pamela) and dear grandfather of Kirsten Elizabeth who shares his passion for soccer. Beloved brother to Roberta Homolka (Bobby) of New Zealand. Predeceased by his parents Marion and William Williams and his sister Marie and brother William. John held various directorships in the Peterborough and District Soccer Association and was a dedicated member of St. Georges Anglican Church for 45 years. John was a member of the Masonic Lodge 101 Corinthian Peterborough, Life Member of the Peterborough Naval Association, Member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Past President of the Peterborough Police Association. Prior to immigrating to Canada in 1952, he served with the Royal Navy in W.W. II and the Liverpool City Police. John will be remembered for his remarkable zest for life, sense of humour and kindness. Friends will be received at NISBETT FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, (600 Monaghan Rd S) on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at St. George's Anglican Church (272 Braidwood Ave, Peterborough) at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 with Reverend Sheila Boudreau officiating. Interment to follow at Highland Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Association.
