CLARKE, John Charles Age 93 of Windsor passed away Sunday, March 13, 2005, peacefully in his sleep after a long convalescence. He's noted for his extensive Boy Scout work in the Detroit and Mt. Clemens (USA) area councils. He achieved the "Eagle Scout," in 53 merit badges by his 18th birthday. He completed a solo bicycle trip of more than 1400 miles, in the year 1930. This trip, which took 27 days, originated in Miami, Fl., and concluded in Mt. Clemens, Mi. During WWII he designed military air craft, and worked on many military designs afterwards. John is a Ford Motor Co. retiree, and a former member of the American Society of Body Engineers. Predeceased by his loving wife Marjorie (nee Cooper) (1991). He is survived by his son, John A. Clarke and wife Darlene, Wyandotte, Mi., daughter-in-law Larraine DeKindt (nee Smart) Windsor, daughter Elizabeth (Gaye) MacDonald and husband Sheldon, Windsor, daughter Patricia (Patty) L. Kotow and husband Allan, Harrow, his "baby sisser" Janet Pattee (Beech) La Jolla, CA., 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, nieces, and his faithful Chihuahua Pookie. He will be sadly missed. A Memorial Service to celebrate John's life will be held at Christ Church in Colchester on Friday March 18th, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Stephen Hendry will officiate. The family wishes to thank the staff at Malden Park, and Windsor Regional C. C. C. for their care over the past two years.
