KAY, Robert - Passed away suddenly in his sleep at Empress Gardens on March 28, 2005, just a few weeks after celebrating his 80th birthday. Beloved father of Carolyn and Jenniffer Kay. Proud grandfather of Sebastian Kay. Pre-deceased by the love of his life, Elva (nee Hodgson). Older brother to Bill Kay and wife Anna and Helen Dale and husband Dave. Robert was also very fond of his two nephews and his two nieces. As a young volunteer Robert fought in WWII in the British Navy. Following this, he emigrated to Canada where he trained as a teacher, rising to the position of Head of the Technical Department at Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate in Scarborough. He loved Scotland, including the immortal Robbie Burns and the national sport of soccer, which he coached throughout his life. A history buff, he was fascinated by WWII and deeply admired Winston Churchill. Robert will be greatly missed by his two daughters and his grandson. A funeral service will be held at the COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough on Saturday, April 2nd at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. A private family interment will take place at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Cemetery, Scarborough at a later time.
