Many abandoned, lost or wounded animals found love, compassion & nurturing care at June's door, Gardens blazed with colour and bloomed with ferocity under June's gentle touch. June loved to cook & bake and the Gazo house on Olive Rd. was widely known as "the place" to score the best homemade fudge every Hallowe'en. Mom loved to travel and her children provided numerous opportunities for June to explore the West Coast, Bermuda & the trip of a lifetime to see the Chelsea Flower Show in London, England. John & June enjoyed many sojourns across the country and throughout Ontario in their retirement years. John & June first met in the late 40's as members of a marching band, where June was the lead drummer and John played tuba. The Gazo house was filled with music and books, and wonderful smells from the kitchen. Mom turned her hand to writing and her book "Robbie, the School Bus Dog" is awaiting publication. Any and all who knew June benefited from her gentle touch and loving smile. Mom struggled with Alzheimer's and dementia for the last two years. She fought valiantly to her last breath. The family extends its heartfelt and deepest gratitude to all staff in the 600 block at Huron Lodge, the Alzheimer's Society & CCAC for their outstanding and compassionate care for Mom in her last days. If you so desire, donations to the Care Canada or UNICEF would be appreciated by the family.
