BORROWMAN, Verlie Catherine Harriet (Dube) born Sept. 18, 1904, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2005, in the presence of her loving family. Late of Iler Extended Care, formerly long time resident of Oldcastle and Oak Park Terrace, Windsor. Predeceased by husband Kenneth Ira (1982); baby daughter (1924); son Roy Andrew (1933). Dear mother of Donald and wife Patricia (Hill, retired R.N.). Loving grandmother of Lynne and husband Guy Cayen of Thorold, Ont., Wayne and wife Patricia (Dyksterhuis) of Richmond, B.C., great grandmother "Meme" of Marc, Joelle, Andre Cayen; Sister of, Earl (1969) and Ruth (1984) (Boussey) Dube; John Martin at 3 months (1902); Eva at age 4 months (1903); Leo at age 3 yrs. (1910); Helen (Dube) Laframboise of Amherstburg (widow of Leslie Brush 1959 and Francis Laframboise (1984); John "Jack" Dube (1964) and Virginia (Conlon); Russell "Russ/Ruck" Dube and wife Annie (Bullock) of Windsor; George (1966) and Flossie (Gibb) Dube of Harrow; Orval "Stub" (1996) and Delite (2002) (Gardiner) Dube; Kathleen "Keen" Mongeau (widow of Ulysses "Smokie" Mongeau 1984 and George Polyak 1993) and husband Chester Sawecki of Allen Park, Michigan; Ruth, (widow of Leonard Little 1979, Chester Pegg 1982 and John McAndrew 2004) of London, Ont., and many nieces and nephews in the Borrowman and Dube lineage. Verlie, the daughter of Andrew (1958) and Ada (1957) (Amelle "Hamel") Dube, was born in an ancestral log house on the Pike Rd., Amherstburg on a typical narrow farm customary for those being of French descent as her great grandparents Joseph Dube born c.1793 in Terrebonne Lower Canada (son of Andrew Dube and Margaret Moreau) and Rose (daughter of John Leduc and Elizabeth Peltier of Sandwich) had divided amongst their heirs in 1865 the family farm of 200 acres on lot 46, now Pike Rd., Malden Twp. acquired in 1820. Having married Kenneth Ira Borrowman, a farmer of Anderdon Twp., Nov. 27, 1923 at St. John the Baptist Church, Amherstburg, later moved to the Oldcastle area in 1934 where he managed a BA Service Station for the Oldcastle Co-Operative at the corner of No. 3 Hwy. and Walker Rd. prior to employment as a millwright in 1941 at Ford Motor Company and to subsequent retirement in 1966. Verlie was known to many in the area having worked in the service station with her husband and later when she worked with her son as he managed the Oldcastle Cold Storage 1949-1956. Verlie is a member of St. Mary's Church and Altar Society, Maidstone, and a lifetime member of St. Anne de Beaupre. Resting at Bisnett Funeral Home, Cozy Corners, Maidstone with visiting on Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers at 8:30 p.m. thence to rest at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 12048 Talbot Rd., Maidstone on Monday from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Burial at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Amherstburg.
