Clara Margaret THOMAS

McARTHUR, Clara Margaret, nee Thomas - Died peacefully May 6th at Georgetown, in her 96th year. Devoted wife, of 67 years, to Harry. Loved mother of Mary Lou (Doug Brock), and Sue Grant. Grandmother of Steven Grant, and Alison, David and John Paul (Erin) Brock. Delighted great-grandmother, since January, of Madison Belle Brock. Clara Thomas grew up in the village of Woodville, where she went to school with her future life partner, Harry. She graduated from nursing at the Toronto Western Hospital in 1931, and practiced nursing through the 30's until their marriage in 1937. During her married years, Clara was an active church member, an avid bridge player, curler and gardener. She was a devoted wife and mother, a much loved member of each of the many southern Ontario communities in which she and Harry resided during his long career with Ontario Hydro. Her family and friends will miss her. She had a wonderful, long life, and she will remain in our hearts forever. A private family gathering and cremation have taken place. A celebration of Clara's life will be held in the chapel at Trinity United Church, 315 Reid Street, Peterborough, Ontario at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24th, 2005. Clara loved flowers, and unfortunately, left us just before the warmth of spring and the blossoms burst forth after this long, cold winter.
