SCRATCH: J. A. W. "Jack" Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 15, 2005 at 85 years of age, at the Windsor Regional Hospital Met Campus. Jack Scratch of Essex, and formerly of Windsor, retired Deputy District Chief of the Windsor Fire Department. Beloved husband of the late Millie (nee Upham). Loving father of Brenda and Jerry Hewson of Guelph and Lynda and Darrell Root of Owen Sound. Much loved Papa to Patti-Lynne Menard of Windsor, the late Peter Patterson, his wife Sherri and their son Jacob, Laura and Ron Hache of Fergus, Tammy and Chris Byers of Wiarton, and Tiffany and Rob Shewfelt of Owen Sound. Great Papa of George and John Buck, Megan and Samantha Hache, Lindsay and Tiffany Kerr, Isaac Miller, Spencer Byers and Austin Shewfelt. Great great Papa to Layne Buck. Loved brother of Virginia Jill Dandy of British Columbia and Dawna and Hank Reeves of Windsor. Loved brother-in-law of Lillian Kieslewski of New Baltimore, Michigan, Fay Upham and the late Bert Upham of Windsor, the late Arthur Upham, and the late Ella Primeau. Jack will be missed by many wonderful friends including Joan Cronmiller and family of Essex. Jack was a veteran of the Second World War. Visiting at the Stewart L Kennedy Funeral Home, 128 Talbot Street, North, Essex (776-7378) on Tuesday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 am. Funeral service to be held from the funeral home on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
