Andrew Gasparik March 12, 1920 - April 08, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre Andrew Gasparik, aged 85 years, passed away peacefully at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre on the evening of Friday April 08, 2005. Andrew was born in Olsavce, Czechoslovakia on March 12, 1920. He immigrated to Canada in 1950 with Susan, his wife of 3 years, and Frank his two year old son. The young family settled in Fort William, where Andrew began a lengthy career as a Stevedore with the Canadian Steamship Lines Company. In l955 Andrew and Susan were proud parents of another son Andrew Daniel (Danny). Andrew was a strong but gentle, honest, hard-working, devout Lutheran who always put his family’s needs first before meeting his own. His other passion was his farm where for over 40 years; he raised a variety of livestock, growing a substantial garden every one of those years. Andrew is survived by his wife of 58 years, Susan; his son Frank (Jane) from Edmonton, Alberta; his grandson Aaron in Edmonton and his granddaughter Jordan in Montreal, Quebec; his sister-in-law Elizabeth in Thunder Bay; nephews and niece David, Mike, Andy and Irene Verescak and their families in Thunder Bay. Andrew is also survived by his brother John and various relatives in Czechoslovakia. Andrew was predeceased by his parents, twin brothers Adam and George in Czechoslovakia, and by his beloved son Danny, in 1985 in Thunder Bay. Andrew, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend will be missed by his family and all those who knew him. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 7 until 9 P.M. in the Jenkens Funeral Home. Funeral services for Andrew Gasparik will be held at the Jenkens Funeral Home on Tuesday April 12th, 2005 at 11 a.m. Pastor David Haberstock of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate and interment to follow in Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, the Canadian Diabetes Foundation or the charity of your choice in Andrew’s name would be greatly appreciated.
