Alfaretta Vivian Marsman June 06, 1916 - April 08, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Halifax) MARSMAN, Alfaretta Vivian - 88, Halifax, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 8, 2005. Born in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late Margaret (Hill) and Henry Franklin. Mom was a member in good standing of Cornwallis Street Baptist Church for almost 60 years. She was past president of the Choir and of the Women's Missionary Society, taught Sunday school for a number of years and was a Mother of the Year. She was a foster mother to a few children, and gave of her love and kindness to her family and to many others, while offering support and encouragement to anyone. Her family will remember her as a very strong lady. Mom's hobbies were knitting, sewing, reading and ceramics. She enjoyed travelling and volunteering her services to anyone who needed them. She is survived by daughters, Marilyn Marsman, Halifax; Dorothy Zeppenfeldt, Raleigh, N.C.; Maureen (Barry) States, Dartmouth; Paula (Roger) Baptiste, Timberlea; Alison (George) Cooper, Chesapeake, Va.; son, Lance (Nikki) Marsman, Toronto, Ont.; beloved grandchildren, Lana, Paul, Ian, Robin, Jennifer, Alison Lee, Chad, Jautonne, Vanessa, Chaelin, Bryce; great-grandchildren, Bria, Chelice, DeYenté, Shayla, Makaela, Cameron, Isaac, Mya, Chenoa, Kendra, Ashton; several nieces and nephews and dear friends. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Marsman; sister, Lola; brothers, James and Ira. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, from where visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday in Cornwallis Street Baptist Church, Rev. Lionel Moriah officiating. Burial to follow in Fort Massey Cemetery.
