Betty Newton (née Mellor) December 28, 1925 - April 22, 2005 On April 22, 2005 at the Concordia Hospital, Betty Newton passed away. She was born on December 28, 1925 in Rotherham, U.K. and was the loving wife to Donald Newton (deceased). She is survived by her sons: Tim and wife Cheryl Raaphorst of Winnipeg, son Chris and wife Janet Evans and sons Andre and Jeffrey of Ottawa. She also leaves behind her friend and companion Stanley, her dog. Betty came to Canada from England in 1955. She lived and worked for many years in Elmwood. Betty and Don were longtime members of Elmwood Legion #9. Special thanks to the members and staff of the Huff and Puff Club at the Riverview Health Centre, where she spent many happy hours. A celebration of her life will be held at the Elmwood Legion #9, 920 Nairn Avenue, from 2 - 4 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2005. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lung Association and the Canadian Diabetes Association.
