Hugh Archibald Fieldgate October 04, 1936 - June 15, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Regina Funeral Home FIELDGATE – Hugh Archibald, passed away June 15, 2005 in Regina after a courageous battle with cancer and kidney disease at the age of 68. He was predeceased by his mother Jessie McCrindle and father Archibald Watkins Fieldgate. Hugh is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Doreen; three daughters: Debbie (Tim) Timleck, Amanda and Nicholas, Denise (Kim) Heszheimer, Hanna and Noah, Deana Gyorfi-Fieldgate, Marissa and Danika; brothers Edgar (Shirley) Fieldgate, Archie (Gloria) Fieldgate; cousin Sandra Walmsley of Toronto, as well as close brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Regina on October 4, 1936, he was educated and attended barber school there. In 1967 he took over Ed’s Barber Shop on 15th Avenue in Regina where he was known to three generations of clientele and where he worked until his retirement in 2000. Known as “Hugh the Barber” he also went to clients’ homes to cut hair and always had a funny story or joke to tell. Throughout the 70’s and 80’s Hugh’s love of music and the guitar allowed him to start in his own band. Hugh played around the Regina and the Craven area for various weddings, anniversaries and dances. Hugh was also involved in various church and community committees. His wonderful sense of humour and loving generosity will be sadly missed by all. Before his passing, Hugh was surrounded by Pastor Bob, his family and the sound of music and song, which brought joy into his life for so any years. Thanks to Dr. Road, Dr. Warden, Dr. Clein, Dr. McMillian and the palliative care nurses at the Pasqua Hospital. Thanks to the wonderful staff and friends at the Renal Dialysis Unit at Regina General Hospital for their care and support over the past eight years. Special thanks to a special son and daughter Jeff and Debbie Shearer (Taylor and Tyler) for the love, laughter and support. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 4825 Dewdney Avenue on Monday, June 20, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. INTERMENT will be held at Regina Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hwy #1 East, Regina on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Please meet on the service road 15 minutes prior. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Regina Chapter, 1545C McAra Street, Regina, SK S4N 6H4 or to Christ Lutheran Church, 4825 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 1B7.
