Lawrence B. Wallace 1925 - 2005 Lawrence (Larry) B. Wallace of Queen St., Moncton, NB, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, June 17, 2005, after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Born in Covedell, NB, on June 5, 1925, Larry was the son of the late Dr. Peter and Margaret (McDonald) Wallace. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Marjorie (Hennessey) Wallace; son, Bob (Maureen) of Riverview; daughter, Anne-Marie of New Westminster, BC; sisters, Rena (Frank) Young of Riverview and Margaret (Tom) Whiffin of Scarborough, ON; brother, Peter (Betty) of Moncton; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wallace of Vancouver, BC and Laura (Alfred) Blake of Covedell, NB; grandchildren, Darcy, Tyler, Shawna and Erin Wallace all of Riverview; and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by brothers, Gerald, Father John, Phillip, George, Mark; and sisters, Kathleen and Evelyn (Curry) O'Neil. Larry cherished his faith and was a member of St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Parish in Moncton (1985-2005), St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Lincoln, NB (1975-1985) and St. Dustin's Parish in Fredericton (1956-1975). He was a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #1942 of Fredericton, NB and also a Faithful Navigator of the Msgr. Boyd Assembly, Fredericton followed by his transfer to the Roy M. McDonald Assembly upon his relocation to Moncton in 1985. Larry was very proud of his Irish heritage and was an active member of the Irish Canadian Cultural Association. Larry will be remembered by all as passionate about the labour movement with his most memorable accomplishment being the implementation of a formula to provide strike-free project management during the 1970's, when labour strife was prominent. This formula was used during the construction of the Mactaquac Hydro Electric dam and Nackawic Pulp mill projects. Larry was a veteran of World War II, having served overseas with the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps., and is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6. Larry enjoyed his sports and loved to discuss them at every opportunity, including his many enjoyable times with his "Coffee Gang" at Highfield Square. Growing up he played baseball with his brothers in Tabasuntac and also enjoyed playing hockey and following his beloved Montreal Canadians. Lawrence never missed an opportunity to go to the rink and watch his children and grandchildren play hockey and ringette. When asked recently who he was looking forward to seeing in heaven, he quickly replied "That's easy, I need to speak to Maurice "The Rocket" Richard" as soon as I get there." Larry enjoyed supporting the sporting interests of all his family and will be remembered by the rugby community as one of the "old boys" patrolling the rugby sidelines in Moncton along with his two brothers, Peter and George. The Family wishes to thank Dr. Greg Donald and Dr. Matthew Blanchard for all of their assistance and compassion; the nurses and staff of The Moncton Hospital, 5100 Unit, Extramural, the Canadian Red Cross, and the numerous friends who made his last days very special. Larry is resting at Tuttle Bros. Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St., Moncton, on Sunday, June 19, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 20, 2005 at 10:00 am from St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery, Irishtown, NB.
